On Paskuhan and the hell weeks

Friend: Marami tayong pwedeng gawin habang nagaantay ng fireworks, Metal Slug sa dorm ni Kim, mag-picture, maglibot, kumain, maglaro ng Metal Slug…

Faye: Sa org room na lang, may Metal Slug din sa PC dun. May aircon pa.

Friend: Ok lang basta may Metal Slug

Ahh, Paskuhan season again. My friends are planning what to do for the Paskuhan day. My activities while waiting for the fireworks are as follows: playing Metal Slug (brb reminiscing childhood), Game of Thrones and Walking Dead marathon, watch Immortals (oh yes, it only took 5 hours to download a 1GB DVD rip), and maybe watch the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2011 (reminds me that I have to download it now) This time, I’m going to the Paskuhan festivities with a group of friends! Last time I did that was in my freshman year, but we’re not really a group, it’s like, only three  of us. The next years were filled with no-group-of-friends loneliness.

Unfortunately, with the Paskuhan atmosphere (filled with Manila smog, oh at least Manila sometimes look like Baguio) comes the stench of the hell weeks that I would like to call as the punishment-because-you-students-procrastinated-too-much-for-the-past-two-months period. Our professors bombarded us with projects and quizzes because the end of 2011 is approaching. And here I am, not feeling any pressure at all, thinking I have failed three quizzes in a row. No pressure.

Other than academics, I am cramming lots of papers for my extracurricular commitments, because the offices will probably be closed by Christmas vacation. Yes, I’m looking at you, JFFC and PIIE-NSC.
